Job Description

Manager, Tax & Estate Planning


Owens MacFadyen Group is looking for an individual who is highly-motivated, who works well independently and as part of a team and wants to be part of a high-growth, high-performance company in our soon-to-be opening Toronto office. You have an accounting designation and ideally your work experience has been in personal tax and with business owners. You have a natural problem solving ability and possess strong organizational and communication skills. You are inquisitive and analytical, you enjoy researching complex issues and are comfortable creating spreadhseets and tools to aid in explaining important information.


Job Description



  • Work with our Owens MacFadyen Group (OMG) advisors and our high net worth clients to:


    • Prepare comprehensive financial plans

    • Identify and explain tax planning opportunities and strategies

    • Identify and explain estate planning opportunities

    • Prepare estate plans

    • Collaborate with the client's other professional advisors including specialists in tax, accounting and legal on the implementation of plans


  • Meet with professional advisors (accounting and legal firms) to demonstrate what we do and promote the benefits of a collaborative process

  • Provide critical analysis of strategies through research and building spreadsheets

  • Review and summarize legal documents and provide recommendations for improvement and taking advantage of planning opportunities

  • Supervise and mentor a financial analyst, whose role is to support the OMG advisors in providing comprehensive wealth management services to clients

  • Develop and present presentations to advisors, clients and professionals on various tax and estate planning topics

  • Educate and train OMG advisors on tax and estate planning matters

  • Work with professional advisors and clients to demonstrate the value of various strategies and financial products
