KV Private Equity Inc. is an Edmonton based private equity firm and part of the KV group of companies (the first company within the KV group was founded in 2006 and today it includes: KV Private Equity Fund, KV Capital Inc., KV Mortgage Fund Inc. and KV Private Equity Inc.). KV Private Equity Inc. transacts within the lower mid-market to acquire controlling interests in established operating businesses located within western Canada. The principals and management of the KV group are designated finance and accounting professionals and we are an approved CPA training office with operations that include capital raising, private mortgage lending, portfolio management and private equity.

Job Description

Corporate Controller, KV Private Equity Inc.


Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller will be a key member of the executive team within our Private Equity line of business. From our Edmonton office, the Corporate Controller will work collaboratively within KVPE’s team and provide the necessary financial information, analysis and ongoing support to our business and the business of our portfolio companies to drive results.


  • Prepare and maintain the accounting records related to completed equity investments and Partner capital;

  • Develop and prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages to support operational decision making and strategic planning (including performance measures);

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and support reporting to investors including valuation of portfolio companies;

  • Provide ongoing support to the accounting and finance functions within portfolio companies;

  • Assist with the onboarding and operation of portfolio companies;

  • On an annual basis, prepare working papers and liaise with external auditors;

  • Support the analysis of target acquisitions and deal structures;

  • Support corporate functions by developing cash flow plans, operating and capital budgets and forecasts;

  • Complete treasury and cash management functions including cheque preparation, bank account reconciliations;

  • Identify, recommend and execute on cost reduction initiatives;

  • Manage all statutory, regulatory and tax considerations.



  • University degree, majoring in Accounting

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)


  • The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of increasing experience in Finance and Accounting functions including the relevant experience in a public practice accounting firm;

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop financial analysis and reporting in an efficient and effective manner;

  • Strong financial accounting, management accounting, tax knowledge, reporting, and analytical skills;

  • An understanding of key business drivers and fundamentals with a track record of delivering results and enhancing company value.

  • Ability to initiate and implement changes and improvements where applicable;
