Job Description

We are seeking a Tax Accountant to join our client’s team. In this role you will be reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. Our Client is one of Canada’s top real estate and development firms. RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Prepare partnership stub period income where applicable to completion of T2

  • Prepare draft income tax return for purpose of providing income tax provisions to the accountants

  • Finalization of tax return once financial statements are finalized

  • Submit final T2 for approval to Manager and/or Director as well as ensure timely submission to Revenue Canada

  • Prepare T5013 Partnership Information Return, inclusive of slips for Partners, copies of full disclosure notes and account activity summaries

  • Review tax information page for participants on joint ventures/co-tenancies

  • Prepare draft T3 trust return for income tax provisions

  • Assist on allocation of income to beneficiaries

  • Summarize income allocation for tax purposes and changes to beneficiary loan account and provide to General Counsel

  • Ensure T5s are prepared and reviewed for accuracy based on dividend and interest accounts

  • Maintain summaries and prepare cheque requisitions monthly for corporate tax instalments

  • Maintain and update capital dividend account for all corporations

  • Research tax matters and identify tax planning opportunities and provide recommendations based on research


 


 


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in the tax accounting field

  • Completed or is working towards completion of a Professional Accounting Certification

  • Advanced level MS Excel and MS Word skills are a must with a solid working knowledge of Accounting software



  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team oriented

  • Excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment and enjoy new challenges

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure, highly motivated to achieve results

  • Bright and analytical, able to solve problems and make decisions using logical processes

  • Reliable and punctual with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
