CPA Source On-line Privacy Policy

Last updated April 15, 2013

The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada ("CPA Canada") is committed to protecting the privacy of all Users of the CPA Source Web Site (the "Site") and ensuring that Users know how their personal information is being collected, used and disclosed. Our Privacy Policy is in compliance with the Generally Accepted Privacy Principles developed by and published by CPA Canada and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

By accessing and using information from this site or sending or posting information to it, you (the "User") agree to the terms of this privacy policy and to our practices to collect, use or disclose your personal information. This privacy policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes to the Site that may impact our use of your personal information.

1. Notice

Personal information is collected on the CPA Source Site to provide a service to members and students who wish to explore new career opportunities and find volunteer opportunities (Job Seekers);

Job Seekers who choose to be notified of job postings will be contacted via e-mail notification. Job Seekers who set their resume as Searchable or Searchable Confidential may receive invitations for an interview from employer, recruiter or advertiser (collectively Employers) whose job posting matches their resume. CPA Source will not disclose the name, contact information, or previous employer names fields or the attached cover letter or resume for Job Seekers who set their resume to Searchable Confidential, but the system will allow Employers to contact Job Seekers through a message sent through CPA Source.  Job Seekers who set their resume to Not Searchable will not receive invitations for interviews from an employer unless they apply directly to a job posting. Job Seekers who apply directly to a job posting will reveal all information in their resume to that Employer and they may receive a request for an interview from the Employer through any of the contact information they included in their resume.

CPA Source prohibits Employers from using information gathered on our site for purposes other than to hire/recruit Job Seekers and we only allow Employers to access resumes that match their job posting. We do not allow access to our entire resume database. While CPA Source has these procedures in place to prevent unauthorized use of information in our resume database, we accept no liability for the improper use of Job Seeker information by Employers.

Employers who request notification when Job Seekers apply to their job postings, will receive an e-mail whenever a Job Seeker applies.

Registered Users will receive our monthly newsletter unless they choose to opt out. Users may opt out of receiving the newsletter by deselecting a check box on the Registration form. Employers may change their newsletter preference by clicking on Update Users in the Account Information section and then selecting/deselecting the option to receive the newsletter for the appropriate user. Job Seekers may change their newsletter preference by clicking on Manage Resume and selecting/deselecting this option under Screen 1-Contact Information.

Registered Users acknowledge that CPA Canada may contact them either by mail, telephone or e-mail for customer service, marketing of CPA Source and related services, marketing research, for billing purposes, to update their account information, or to be notified of any major changes to the functionality of CPA Source, this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use Contract.  Registered Users may withdraw their consent to have their information used for marketing research, and/or marketing of CPA Source and related services by sending us an e-mail at  Under no circumstances do we sell or give our User lists to others.

Please note that the Site is also governed by the Terms of Use Contract which you should review before proceeding further.

2. Choice and Consent

All Users of CPA Source retain control over their personal information and individual Users have control over who has access to this information. A Job Seeker's contact information will not be revealed unless the Job Seeker responds to a request for an interview by an Employer or if the Job Seeker applies directly to a job posting); or

3) have no access to search the CPA Source database for either a Job Seeker's résumé, name or contact information including the names of previous employers. (Job Seekers can use CPA Source to store and maintain an up-to-date résumé but prevent others from searching it until consent is given by the Job Seeker to enter it into the CPA Source database or until the Job Seekers applies directly to a job posting).

Employers: Employers who register to use the site can choose to:

1) publish a job posting that identifies their company's name and job contact information;
