We are currently seeking a Supervisor – Accounting Policy & Financial Reporting. This position consists of a 35 hour work week.




  • Ensuring that all TTC accounting policies and procedures are consistent with and reflect current standards and legislative requirements (i.e. Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS))

  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place and that financial procedures are continuously reviewed

  • Analyzing accounting issues and preparing accounting policy memos as well as monitoring developments in accounting and auditing standards and informing appropriate staff of those changes

  • Developing accounting processes and providing feedback for new corporate initiatives that impact Finance

  • Preparing financial reports for the TTC and senior management including the period and annual consolidated & non-consolidated financial statements for the TTC, TTC Sick Benefit Association and the TTC Insurance Company Limited

  • Leading the annual interim and year-end work, planning and co-ordinating the related audit activities and preparing distributing the TTC’s Annual Report

  • Supervising the general accounting functions of the Section and provide guidance to a team of 5 staff responsible for GL and bank account reconciliations and journal entries related to allocations, revenue, fare media processing, accident claims, etc.

  • Assisting with implementation of TTC’s new financial accounting and reporting system, SAP and with special projects

  • Preparing key year-end provisions and estimates and financial or statistical reports for external entities such as the City and Statistics Canada

  • Participating in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program

  • Responsible for treating passengers and employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer



  • Advanced knowledge of current accounting and auditing principles and practices for public sector organizations (PSAS) as described in the C.I.C.A. Handbooks and other official pronouncements

  • Advanced knowledge of current accounting, financial management and audit issues and a thorough knowledge of accounting and financial processes, procedures and controls for a large organization

  • Must possess or acquire a thorough knowledge of TTC processes and key performance indicators

  • Must have experience with SAP general ledger accounting (or equivalent computerized accounting system) and be well versed in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint)

  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work accurately, manage & prioritize time and multi-task

  • Completion of a University education, or the equivalent, and several years of directly related work experience

  • Must possess a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA CA, CPA CMA, CPA CGA) with strong preference given to former Chartered Accountants with at least two years’ experience at a large public accounting and auditing firm.

  • Sound judgement; well-developed analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Must have a few years of experience directly supervising and motivating a team of staff and effectively co-ordinate efforts of others to accomplish objectives

  • Experience with the implementation of and data migration to a new accounting system would be an asset

  • You must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.


Annual Salary Range: $92,164.80 - $115,260.60 (Level 10) – 35 Hour Work Week
